Frequently Asked Questions

Can I compress a photo and signature for Indian exam forms?

Yes. Upload the image, choose Photo, Signature, or Custom mode, set target KB and dimensions, then download the optimized JPG. Always compare the final size with the form rules before uploading.

Does this tool upload my photo to a server?

No. The compression and resizing run in your browser, so the selected image stays on your device during normal use.

What size should I choose for photo and signature uploads?

Different exams and portals have different limits. Common targets are 20-50 KB for photos and 10-20 KB for signatures, but you should follow the official instruction for your specific form.

About Photo & Signature Compressor

Prepare a photo or signature JPG for a form that specifies dimensions and a file-size target. Choose Photo, Signature or Custom, then compare the values with the instructions for the exact form you are completing.

Choose crop or contain

Cover fills the selected frame by cropping its edges. Contain keeps the whole image inside the frame and may leave space around it. For a signature, check that every stroke remains visible. Start with a clear image rather than enlarging a small, blurred file.

Review dimensions after compression

This compressor first reduces JPG quality and may then reduce pixel dimensions to approach the target. Always read the Output dimensions and File size in the result. An above-target result is labelled as such. Do not assume that entering a KB value guarantees it was reached.

If you need a photo to retain exact selected pixel dimensions while meeting a strict maximum, use the Passport Size Photo Maker. Its maximum-KB option reports failure when the limit cannot be achieved without changing dimensions.

Upload checklist

  • Use the correct image type and width-to-height ratio.
  • Check the downloaded file size and dimensions, rather than relying on the original.
  • Inspect the full signature or face for cropping and compression damage.
  • Read the receiving portal's current upload rules; different forms have different limits.

The normal compression operation runs locally in your browser. It formats an image and does not establish identity, signature authenticity or official acceptance.
