Can I set a maximum photo file size in KB?

Yes. Enter a whole-number maximum in the optional KB field. The final JPG must fit that limit without changing your selected pixel dimensions. If it cannot fit, the tool shows an error. The limit applies to the whole sheet when sheet export is selected. Here 1 KB means 1,000 bytes.

Can I make passport size photos for Indian forms?

Yes. Upload a photo, choose a common India form preset or custom dimensions, set the background color, and export a single photo or a printable sheet.

Does it remove the photo background automatically?

This tool crops, resizes, and places the image on the selected background. For complex background removal, use a dedicated background remover first, then make the passport size photo.

About Passport Size Photo Maker India

Create a JPG photo with the pixel dimensions and maximum file size required by your application form. This tool uses a centred crop, resizes the image and optionally compresses the final download. It works in your browser without an AI API key.

How to make a photo within a KB limit

  1. Upload a clear portrait with enough space around the head and shoulders.
  2. Choose a preset or enter the exact width and height in pixels from your form instructions.
  3. Enter the allowed maximum in Maximum file size (KB), for example 20, 50 or 100. Leave it blank to use normal JPG quality.
  4. Select Single photo for an online upload, then process the image.
  5. Check the result dimensions, exact byte count and visible photo quality before downloading.

The KB value is a maximum, not an exact output size. A 50 KB limit means no more than 50,000 bytes here. The result may be smaller. Compression changes JPG quality while preserving your selected pixel dimensions. If the limit cannot be reached, the tool explains the problem instead of offering an oversized download.

Pixel dimensions and print size are different

The common-form preset creates 413 × 531 pixels. The square preset creates 600 × 600 pixels. These are convenient starting points, not a statement that every passport, visa, exam or admission portal accepts the same specification. Enter the dimensions requested by your particular form.

A printable sheet is 1800 × 1200 pixels, with up to 12 copies where they fit. Set its physical paper size and print scale in your printing software, then measure a test print. A pixel count alone does not guarantee a physical photo size. The optional KB limit applies to the entire sheet JPG when sheet export is selected.

What the background option does

The selected colour fills transparent areas behind the photo. It does not remove an existing wall or other background. If you need removal, prepare the image with the Background Remover first and inspect the edges. The centred crop does not automatically position or verify a face.

Before you submit the photo

  • Confirm the JPG format, pixel width, pixel height and maximum bytes against the receiving portal.
  • Check that the crop leaves the required parts of the head visible and that compression has not made the image blurry.
  • Use a suitable original photo; resizing cannot restore missing detail or prove official compliance.
